Custom Error Pages
Take a plunge into website error pages. Discover when they appear and why you need to set up your own custom error pages.
Whenever a page on your site does not load, an error message will be shown to the website visitor. Because there are different errors, there are different pages which will display, but what is standard for all of them is that they're generic and in all probability shall have nothing in common with the design of your website, which could be irritating for any website visitor. That is the primary reason why hosting service providers have introduced a function referred to as Custom Error Pages. For a variety of different errors, visitors shall see your unique content, which can be informative or funny, based on your preference, and that will match the overall design and style of your Internet site, so the pages shall not look like they aren't part of your Internet site at all. You may use this option for numerous errors - 400 (Bad request), 401 (Unauthorized), 403 (Forbidden) and 404 (File not Found).

Custom Error Pages in Hosting
When you obtain a
hosting plan from our company, you'll be able to set custom made error pages for your sites easily, since this function is a part of all our plans. The moment you've created the files and uploaded them to your hosting account, you can check out the Hosted Domains section of your Hepsia CP and click on the Edit button for the selected domain or subdomain. In the pop-up which will be displayed, you shall see drop-down options menus for all 4 types of errors and for each of them you may pick an Apache default page, a generic page from our system or a customized page. In case you choose the third option, you should just type the URL to the file which you have uploaded then save the change. Another way to set personalized error pages is to set up an .htaccess file inside the domain or subdomain folder and to add a few lines of program code in it. In case you don't have prior experience or if you are simply unsure how to do this, you may just copy/paste the code from our Knowledge Base article on that topic.

Custom Error Pages in Semi-dedicated Servers
Incorporating your own pages for any of the four error types to any site hosted through a
semi-dedicated server account with us shall be very easy and shall not take more than several clicks. Once you upload the files inside your account, you can navigate to the Hosted Domains section of your Hepsia Control Panel and edit any of the domains and subdomains listed there using an intuitive interface with drop-down navigation. You can pick what page should appear for each and every error type. Your options are a default Apache web server page or a page from our system, and custom pages. If you choose the aforementioned option, you will need to type in the link to every page inside your account, then save the change. The link or the type of page which will appear if a user encounters an error can be changed whenever you want. In case you are more experienced, you may use an .htaccess file to be able to set tailor-made error pages as well, as opposed to using our integrated generator software instrument, and if you select this option, the file has to be placed inside the root directory of a particular domain or subdomain.
